EDINBORO, PA. – The Roberts Wesleyan College men's basketball team is getting used to playing close games.
The Redhawks held a two-point lead over host Edinboro with 11 seconds remaining  in the second half on Saturday afternoon, but the host Fighting Scots forced a turnover and Deonte Robertson connected on a contested 3-pointer to give Edinboro an 83-82 non-conference victory.
Roberts (1-2) brought the ball downcourt immediately after Robertson's basket, but the Redhawks were unable to get a clean shot away.
"I thought the effort was very good," Roberts coach
Mark Saladzius said. "I thought that we played well and played hard, we just made some mistakes and they cost us."
The game featured 20 lead changes and 9 ties.
Senior
Shane Fanning led the Redhawks with 17 points.
Rian Carter and
Fope Okuyiga both added 13 points for Roberts, which led 47-46 at halftime.
 Junior
Amari Lee added 10 points and 10 rebounds for Roberts.
Kierell Green led Edinboro with 24 points and 11 rebounds and Robertson finished with 23 points.
Roberts returns to action at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Felician University.
