Redhawks Men's Lacrosse Week in Review: March 8-14

Men's Lacrosse Takes Down Lake Erie, 3/9

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Redhawks faced the Lake Erie Storm on Tuesday night for their first home game of the season. After coming off three straight road wins, the Redhawks were able to keep the streak going with a 13-6 victory over Lake Erie College.

Within the first minute of the game, Senior Hunter Lemieux scored his twentieth goal of the season on an aggressive offensive attack. The Storm tied the game at one later in the first quarter, but that would be the only time during the match the Storm would catch up to the Redhawks. Freshmen Luke Delavak and Jordan Deats along with Senior Matt Gademske each scored a goal in the first quarter to put the Redhawks at an advantage for the rest of the game.

The game was fairly even from a statistical standpoint, but the Redhawks were able to convert on their shots while Senior Goalkeeper Pat Hynes and the Redhawks defense made it difficult for Lake Erie to connect.

Lemieux and Gademske led the Redhawks offensively with 4 goals a-piece. Deats added 2 goals to the scoreboard and Senior Nate Maloney, Junior Michael Pierog, and Delavak rounded out the scoring with one goal each. Delavak picked up 5 ground balls on the night and Hynes made 12 saves.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The fourth-ranked Mercyhurst Lakers traveled to Rochester Saturday afternoon for a contest against the Redhawks. A quick offensive run by the Lakers put them up 5-0 after the first quarter, and the lead was maintained throughout the rest of the game. Mercyhurst was up 9-1 at half and finished the game at a 19-4 advantage. This contest was the Redhawks first loss of the season.

Roberts Wesleyan's scoring was led by Freshman Jordon Deats, who has been an immediate contributor to the team as a newcomer. Deats finished with 2 goals. Senior Matt Gademske notched a goal as well, along with 2 ground balls and 1 caused turnover. Senior Nate Maloney added a goal to the board to round out the scoring. Maloney also picked up a ground ball. Senior Goalkeeper Pat Hynes ended the game with 11 saves.
