BUFFALO, N.Y. - After over 480 days since their last match, the Redhawks volleyball team traveled to Buffalo to play D'Youville College for the first time since 2010. Roberts Wesleyan jumped right into the competition as the match was taken to 5 sets, ending with the Redhawks on top.
D'Youville jumped out to an early lead in the first set, taking the 1-0 advantage, 25-21. The Redhawks came back in the second set to tie the match and went on to control the third set, 25-18 and 25-21, respectively. The Saints didn't go away, winning the fourth and forcing a fifth and deciding set. It was all Roberts in the final, as they went on to clinch the match with a 15-9 victory.
The Redhawks led the Saints in almost every statistical category. Senior Hitter and Setter Emily Rowlison led Roberts with 17 kills on the day, along with 19 assists, 11 digs, and 3 service aces. Sophomore Outside Hitter Lauren Norwood also padded the stat sheet with 15 kills and 13 digs. Junior Transfer Miranda Rich rounded out the double-digit kills with 10. Freshman Setter Madison Truong was a major offensive contributor with 26 assists and 5 service aces. Freshman Libero Victoria Rudolph and Senior Defensive Specialist Tori Westfall controlled the back row with 15 and 14 digs, respectively.Â
Roberts Wesleyan takes a short hiatus before their next game set for April 9th. The Redhawks will take on the University of Rochester in an Exhibition Match at 6 pm in the Voller Athletic Center. Check out the ECC Sports Network for the live stream.
