Redhawks aim to 'bounce forward' against Mansfield

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Roberts Wesleyan College women's soccer coach Sarah McClellan shared a simple message after Saturday afternoon's non-conference match against Chestnut Hill College.
"We've got to bounce back and we've got to bounce forward," McClellan said after the Redhawks dropped a 1-0 decision at Roberts Stadium.
Roberts (0-3-1) had the better of the play in the first half, but was unable to find the back of the net. The Redhawks held a 4-2 advantage in shots on goal, including a couple of high-quality chances.
The Griffins started to find their legs in the second half and Maddie Jimenez connected for the game's only goal in the 79th minute.
"We've just been struggling at finishing games in front of the net on both ends of the field," McClellan said. "The second half was more of a 50-50 transition game and when it's 0-0 that can be a dangerous way to play."
Roberts nearly took the lead about 1:30 before Jimenez's goal, but a shot by Abigail Sindoni ricocheted off the crossbar.
Sophomore Nicolette Knauf continued to play well in goal, making seven saves including a couple of the spectacular variety.

"She is having a year," senior defender Makenzie Muoio said. "She is owning that 18. That 18 is hers all day."
Although disappointed with the result, the Redhawks vowed to heed the advice of their coach and "bounce forward."
"We need to keep working hard," Roberts senior Justine Sharda said. "It's all part of the process. We need to dig in and dig deep."
The Redhawks play their final non-conference match before East Coast Conference play at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Mansfield University.
