ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Harry F. Anderson Invitational was back in action this year on the campus of Roberts Wesleyan following last year's absence. With the last competition coming three weeks ago for the Roberts cross country teams both teams were eager to get back in race form on the home course.
A total of 33 complete teams entered the invitational between the men's and women's races. The women's team took 4th place out of 15 teams while the men placed 2nd out of 18 teams.
Leading the pack on the women's team were the Gostomski twins.
Bailey Gostomski earned a 5th place individual finish with a time of 18:32.7 with
Abigail Gostomski finishing 14th overall in 19:01.3.
Kylee Odell (19:03.6) and
Acacia Barber (19:11.2) grabbed top 25 finishes for the Redhawks with 16th and 18th place finishes, respectively.
For the men the Redhawks grabbed the top two individual places with
Shane Pease winning the race, crossing the line in 25:39.
James Betts ran side-by-side with Pease coming in with a time of 25:39.3 for second place. Both runners ran at a 5:10 minute per mile pace for the race.
Lee Sortore and
Joshua Johnson placed in the top 20 for Roberts. Sortore finished 17th with a time of 26:21.1 and Johnson was 18th in a time of 26:21.3.
The Redhawks will be back in action on Oct. 2 at the Live in Lou Classic hosted by Louisville University.
