AMHERST, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan University men's basketball team trimmed a 13-point halftime deficit to two points, but could not overcome Georgian Court University in a non-conference game Saturday at the East Region Challenge presented by WNY Knee and Orthopedic Surgery P.C. at Daemen University on Saturday.
Ja'Kair Sanchez made two free throws to make the score 64-62 with 9:28 to play, but Georgian Court responded with a 7-0 run and held off the Redhawks, 85-81.
Malik Brooks scored 17 points to lead Roberts (0-2) and Rian Carter added 13. Sanchez, Abou Gbane and Demani Smith all added 10. Sanchez also led the Redhawks with seven rebounds and six assists.
Roberts returns to action at 8 p.m. Tuesday for a non-conference game at Mansfield.
