ROCHESTER, N.Y. – A well-distributed scoring attack helped the Roberts Wesleyan men's basketball team pick up its first win of the season on Monday night over Alliance University, 78-61.
Five players scored double digits for the Redhawks with Abou Gbane leading the way with 15 points. Malik Brooks (12), Nicholas Johnson (12), Ja'Kair Sanchez (10) and Max Mitchell (11) all joined Gbane in double figures.
The Redhawks offense fed off the pressure on defense, forcing Alliance in to 19 turnovers resulting in 29 points for the home team. Combined with an efficient shooting night of over 50-percent from the field, Roberts was able to build a sizeable lead in the second half which never dropped below 10 points. The Redhawks largest lead of the night was 24 points.
Roberts (1-5) will be at home again on Saturday, hosting Felician University at 4 p.m.
