Strong Closing Run Carries Redhawks To Win Over Felician

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan University men's basketball team manufactured a 15-2 run in the final 4:55 to overcome a five-point deficit and defeat Felician University 66-58 in a non-conference game at the Voller Athletic Center on Saturday.
Trailing 55-51, Malik Brooks started the Redhawks' comeback with a layup and – after two free throws by Ja'Kair Sanchez at the 3:33 mark – eventually gave Roberts the lead with 3:01 to play.
A three-pointer by Rian Carter extended the advantage a minute later and Sanchez and Carter each made a pair of free throws in the final two minutes to put the game away for Roberts (2-5).
Brooks and Sanchez paced Roberts with 16 points apiece. Carter added 14 and Abou Gbane chipped in 10.
Nicholas Johnson led Roberts with 13 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 blocked shots. Sanchez, who scored six points in the closing spurt, added 11.
Roberts led 32-27 and had nine-point edge with 13:13 to play before Felician rallied.
The Redhawks will open East Coast Conference play at 7:30 p.m. on Friday at Queens College.
