Roberts Gets Home Win Over Molloy

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – It wasn't the start the Redhawks wanted, but in the end, it was the result the team needed as Roberts picked up its second East Coast Conference win with a victory over Molloy on Saturday, 83-76.

The first seven minutes of the game went in favor of the visiting Lions. Molloy took an 18-8 lead, but a three-pointer by Ryan Garwood served as the turning point for the Redhawks with 11:36 remaining in the first half.

Roberts began cutting the Molloy lead and took control following a Malik Brooks three with seven minutes to go in the first half.

"We didn't have a good start to the game, but we didn't panic and stuck to the plan as we chipped away at the lead," said head coach Mark Saladzius.

Molloy regained the lead in the second half for a short time when Billy Muller's layup at the beginning of the half gave the Lions a 41-40 lead. But the Redhawks controlled the game from then on out building as much as a 21 point advantage.

Graduate student Rian Carter had his best offensive output of the season when the team needed it most. Carter scored 22 points on 8-of-12 shooting. Brooks added 18 points and Nicholas Johnson had his first double-double of the season with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
