Fast Start Fuels Redhawks To Big Win At Felician

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Junior attack Reid Jackowski scored a career-high six goals to help power the Roberts Wesleyan College men's lacrosse team to a 20-9 victory over Felician University on Friday afternoon.
Jackowski scored five times as Roberts (4-1) built an insurmountable 13-0 lead in the first half.
"We did really well in transition and the settled offense was good," Roberts coach Rocky Delfino said. "We were good in all facets, really."
Jackowski and seniors Nate Maloney and Michael Pierog all scored twice in the first quarter to give the Redhawks a 6-0 advantage after 15 minutes.
Jackowski, a converted midfielder who now spends the majority of his time at the 'X' position on attack, leads the Redhawks with 27 points (18 goals, 9 assists) through five games. Hunter Lemieux, the program's career scoring leader, had three goals and two assists on Friday and has 25 points this season.
"He did a great job of getting open after making his looks," Delfino said of Jackowski. "They were sliding hard toward Hunter and Reid was open and able to finish."
Maloney registered three goals and three assists to equal his career-high with six points as Roberts raised its record to 4-1 for the second straight season.
Pierog finished with three goals and junior Dan Doviak added a goal and two assists Gavin Marsh, Mitch Streety and Jonathon Deats all added a goal and an assist. Sophomore Matt Walsh and freshman Tyler Clark rounded out the scoring for Roberts, which had 11 different players find the net. Clark's goal was his first as a Redhawk.
Streety went 12 of 19 on faceoffs and led Roberts with seven ground balls. Anthony DIamico added six ground balls and Aidan Sheehan tied his career-high with 13 saves.
The victory provided a nice bounce back for the Redhawks, who lost 20-12 at defending national champion LeMoyne on Wednesday.
The Redhawks will stay in the New York City metropolitan area for the weekend and wrap up a three-game week with a non-conference contest at Caldwell University at noon on Sunday.
