FAIRFIELD, N.J. – Four first half goals led the Roberts Wesleyan women's soccer team to a 4-1 win over Bloomfield College on Saturday afternoon.
Roberts moves to 2-0 on the season for the first time since the 2015 season. The 2015 Redhawks finished with a 12-5-3 record and earned a berth in the NCAA Division II Tournament.
Four different players notched a goal in Saturday's win.
Kaeleigh Romero scored the opening goal in the 13th minute of play, followed by
Ella White in the 25th minute,
Karly Tausch (42nd minute), and
Courtney Felton (44th minute).
"It was another good road win to the open the season," said head coach
Sarah McClellan. "We wanted to start fast today and the team did a great job to take control of the score line in the first half."
Gabrielle Ciambella and
Kara Choate both assisted on the first two goals of the game while Tausch added an assist to her stat line on the feed for Felton's late first half goal.
The Redhawks split time in net between starting goalkeeper
Nicolette Knauf and freshman
Courtney Yencer. Knauf made one save in her 45 minutes of action. Yencer made four saves and allowed one goal in the 74th minute of play.
The Redhawks dominated the offensive side of the pitch firing off 17 total shots and putting 12 on target.
Roberts will play one more road game on Thursday at Malone University (4:30 p.m.) before coming home for the first home game of the season on Saturday, Sept. 3.
