Seniors Shine In Win Over D'Youville

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Senior Day was extra special for the Roberts Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team on Wednesday.
In addition to having Lucas Marshall, Reid Jackowski and Jonathon Deats, the three seniors who were honored in a pregame ceremony, score goals, the Redhawks rolled to a 22-4 victory over D'Youville University in an East Coast Conference contest played on the grass field at Roberts Stadium.
Marshall opened the scoring 1:56 into the game and scored a career-high four goals for the Redhawks (9-3, 4-1 ECC). Jackowski finished with two goals and three assists and Deats added a goal.
"That's what it's all about," Roberts coach Rocky Delfino said. "They are all great kids and they are going to do great things."
Marshall, who also capped the scoring with an unassisted tally in the fourth quarter, brought his season goal total to six.
"I had a blast just being out there with the guys, especially on this field," Marshall said. "If I could pick one day to score four goals, this would be the day."
Jackowski also broke his own single-season assist record of 37 when he fed Dan Doviak for a beautiful goal with 2:54 to play in the first half. He now has 96 assists in 46 career games.
"It was awesome, I have always wanted to play on that field," Jackowski said of the stadium. "I really want to give huge props to the grounds crew for all that they did to get the field ready for us, especially given the weather that we have had lately."
Deats scored his goal in the third quarter, but was more focused on the victory.
"I think that it's awesome that me, Reid and Lucas were all able to chip in on the scoreboard today, but more importantly we were able to get the win," said Deats, who also saw time on the field with his younger brother, Jordon.
Sophomore Gunner MacMillan led Roberts with five goals and two assists and Jordon Deats added three goals and an assist. Doviak and Curtis Denison each tallied a goal and three assists.
Freshman Ethan Brown added two goals and Matt Walsh and Justin Skelly each added a goal and an assist. Sam Keens, Jacob Zimmerman and Tyler Clark also scored for Roberts.
Sophomore Andy Davis started in goal and made three saves and freshman Garrett Kayser entered in the third quarter and made five saves. Freshman Isaac Marrero won 17 of 32 face-offs and collected 11 ground balls for Roberts.
The Redhawks close out the regular season with an ECC game at 1 p.m. on April 29 at Frostburg State.
