REDHAWKS EARN THIRD SEED FOR ECC TOURNAMENT

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team has earned the third seed for the upcoming East Coast Conference Championship Tournament.
The Redhawks (9-3, 4-2 ECC) dropped an 18-16 decision at Frostburg State on Saturday and finished in a three-way tie for second place in the ECC with Frostburg and Molloy. Frostburg earned the second seed and will host Roberts in a semifinal game at 4 p.m. on Wednesday.
Graduate student Reid Jackowski led Roberts with six goals and an assist on Saturday. The Redhawks showed grit by scoring four straight goals in the final 2:14 but were hindered by committing 27 turnovers.
"We didn't give up and when we executed everything worked," said Redhawks coach Rocky Delfino, whose team had won four straight games prior to Saturday. "We can't turn the ball over, that's the biggest thing. We've got to grow from it."
Jackowski equaled a career-high with the six goals and also moved into a tie for second place on Roberts' career scoring list with Dom Cianfarano with 185 career points. Jackowski led the ECC in assists this season with 39 and finished second in points with 75.
Junior Matt Walsh tied a career high with three goals and sophomore Gunner MacMillan contributed two goals and two assists for the Redhawks.
Jordon Deats and Dan Doviak each finished with a goal and two assists for Roberts and Sam Keens, Justin Skelly and Curtis Denison each added a goal. Ryan Prine and Alexander Cooper each contributed an assist.
Andy Davis made 13 saves and Luke Delavak caused four turnovers. Freshman Isaac Marrero went 21 for 35 on face-offs and corralled eight ground balls.
Frostburg led 7-6 at halftime before outscoring the Redhawks 5-2 in the third quarter. The Bobcats extended their lead to 18-12 before goals by Jackowski, Denison, MacMillan and Walsh concluded a frantic 14-goal fourth quarter.
