ROCHESTER, NY – Sisters Jaycee Karelus and Camryn Karelus had 12 kills each to lead the Roberts Wesleyan University offense but an early 2-1 lead slipped away as Daemen came back to post a 3-2 win Wednesday night in East Coast Conference (ECC) play in the Voller Athletic Center.
Roberts (10-7 overall, 2-3 ECC) won the opening set 25-19 but Daemen (12-6, 4-2 ECC) battled back to take a 27-25 win in the second to even the match score. Roberts regained the lead with a 25-21 win in the third set but the Wildcats came back again with a 25-12 win in the fourth and finished the match with a 15-5 win in the fifth set for the conference win.
Senior Jaycee Karelus had 12 kills with a .524 attack percentage while sophomore Camryn Karelus added 12 kills of her own to lead the Redhawks offense.
Junior Caleigh Schroeder had 39 assists and 22 digs to lead the team in each category while senior Sydney Yanak added 19 digs, senior Teagan Weber chipped in 18 digs, senior Sarina Pasquantonio added 11 digs and fellow senior Olivia Price finished with 10 digs for Roberts.
Junior Morgan Burnett came on to record four aces for the Redhawks.
Roberts will play at D'Youville Saturday and then have more than a week off before returning home October 27 to face Lock Haven.
