Women's Soccer Falls To Mercy

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – Freshman Mia Tyndell made a career-high 11 saves, but host Mercy scored a goal in each half to defeat the Roberts Wesleyan University women's soccer team 2-1 in an East Coast Conference match on Saturday.

The Mavericks took a 1-0 lead into the break before Roberts broke through early in the second half. Junior Kara Choate sent a long pass into the box from midfield that eluded the keeper and junior

Larissa Johnston ran onto the ball and finished for her first goal of the season to even the game.

Mercy scored the winner less than three minutes later to send the Redhawks (4-5-1, 2-2) to their second straight ECC loss.

Mercy came out strong, out-shooting Roberts 11-2 in the first half. Tyndell made seven saves in the first half and the Redhawks responded with a stronger second half, out-shooting the Mavericks 9-7.

The Redhawks will celebrate Senior Day when they host Saint Thomas Aquinas College in an ECC match at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
