TAMPA, Fla. – The Roberts Wesleyan University men's basketball team started slowly in each half and fell to the University of Tampa 90-67 at the Tampa Classic on Friday.
Roberts (5-7) fell behind by 20 points in the opening 13:32 before closing the first half on a 12-6 run to make it 44-30 at the break.
The host Spartans then opened the second half on a 24-9 run to take their largest lead, 68-39, with 12:48 remaining.
Jermaine Taggart II led Roberts with 19 points and
Arnardo Camacho contributed 16 points and eight rebounds. The Redhawks were playing without leading scorer
Malik Brooks (23.0 ppg), who sustained an injury early in Sunday's 107-102 win over Molloy.
Roberts will close out its first semester schedule against Eckerd College at 5 p.m. on Saturday.
