SPARKILL, N.Y. – A three-point play by
Kevin Constant brought the Roberts Wesleyan University men's basketball team within three points of 12
th-ranked Saint Thomas Aquinas College with 10:52 remaining in the second half of Sunday afternoon's East Coast Conference game at STAC.
The host Spartans proceeded to close the game on a 28-14 run to earn a 101-84 victory over the Redhawks, avenging a 107-102 loss to the Redhawks at Voller Athletic Center on Jan. 14.
Junior guard
Kevin Constant led five Redhawks in double-figures with 16 points.
Isaiah Elmore and
Jermaine Taggart II both scored 15 points,
Malik Brooks added 13 and
Ryan Garwood scored 11 for the Redhawks (8-10, 5-5 ECC).
Brooks pulled down 14 rebounds and Elmore snared eight. Both Elmore and
Brooks added five assists.STAC made 9 of 13 three-point attempts to take a 57-46 lead at halftime. Roberts used a 24-13 run to pull within three before the Spartans regrouped in the final minutes.
The Redhawks return home to the Voller Athletic Center and will host Queens in an ECC game at 8 p.m. on Friday.
