Box Score BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team held host D'Youville scoreless in the second half and rolled to a 17-3 victory in an East Coast Conference game Friday night on Dobson Field.
"The defense was just phenomenal tonight," Roberts head coach
Rocky Delfino said. "The positioning was great and their footwork was fantastic."
D'Youville played a zone defense early, but the Redhawks eventually began to click on offense.
"Our guys showed some patience and got some fast-break goals to loosen themselves up a bit," Delfino said.
Seniors
Dan Doviak and
Jordon Deats each registered nine points to power the offense for Roberts (7-4, 1-1 ECC). Doviak scored four goals and tallied five assists while Deats scored twice and totaled seven assists.
Junior
Gunner MacMillan contributed four goals and two assists and
Matt Walsh added two goals.
Luke Delavak,
Jacob Zimmerman,
Ryan Brown,
Tyler Clark and
Preston Steve each scored one goal.
Delavak led the Redhawks with seven ground balls while
Brady Kustra caused four turnovers and
Parker Bossard forced three.
Garrett Kayser made five saves and
Matt Beachel, making his Roberts' debut, made one.
The Redhawks will host Frostburg State at noon on April 6.
