ORANGEBURG, N.Y. - The Roberts Wesleyan men's volleyball team closed out its inaugural regular season with a 3-2 win over Dominican on Saturday afternoon.
Three players finished with double-digit kills, led by
Griffin Monrad who had 19 kills.
Paul Fillion added 18 kills and
Jonah Grbic had 12 kills. The freshman duo of Monrad and Fillion combined for 41.5 of the team's points. Monrad had two aces and two digs. Fillion had an ace, two blocks, and seven digs.
The teams traded sets with Dominican winning the first and third and Roberts taking the second, fourth and fifth sets. The Redhawks grabbed momentum in the fourth set with a dominating 25-10 win and carried it into the fifth set to never let the hosts gain the lead. Roberts took an early 5-2 advantage and won the set 15-12.
Moises Jimenez had a game-high 24 digs.
Roberts (8-15, 3-3 ECC) will wait for the announcement of who they will play in the East Coast Conference semifinals next Saturday held at Dominican.
