ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Frostburg State, the 17
th ranked team in the most recent Inside Lacrosse Division II Men's Lacrosse poll, scored five straight goals in the fourth quarter to pull away from host Roberts Wesleyan University, 20-13, in an East Coast Conference game on Saturday.
The Redhawks (7-5, 1-2 ECC) pulled within three goals 26 seconds into the final period when freshman
Preston Steve converted a feed from
Jordon Deats to make the score 15-12. The Bobcats responded with a 5-0 run over the next 9:14 to close out the contest.
Steve scored four goals and added an assist to set career highs for both goals and points.
Gunner MacMillan added three goals, including two in man-down situations, and an assist for the Redhawks while Deats finished with two goals and an assist.
Senior
Matt Walsh scored two goals for Roberts and
Jacob Zimmerman and
Dan Doviak both added one.
Sophomore
Garrett Kayser made 10 saves and junior
Parker Bossard caused two turnovers and scooped four ground balls. Sophomore
Isaac Marrero led the Redhawks with 11 ground balls and went 17-for-36 on face-offs.
