Another Saturday Sweep and Volleyball is Now 6-2

CHARLESTON, WV – The Roberts Wesleyan Women's Volleyball was dominant at times and opportunistic throughout the day as the Redhawks won a pair of matches Saturday with wins over Elizabeth City State and Barton College to sweep the day and earn a second consecutive 3-1 weekend.

Roberts (6-2) took a 3-1 win over Elizabeth City State (1-5) with set scores of 25-22, 25-18, 22-25 and 25-15 in the early match of the day and came back in the afternoon to down Barton (1-4) b the same 3-1 score. Barton won the first set 25-23 and then Roberts rallied for three straight set wins of 25-12, 25-20 and 25-19 to complete the Saturday sweep.

Against Elizabeth City, junior Olivia Price recorded five kills, four aces and 10 digs. Senior Sarina Pasquantonio led the defense with 19 digs while seniors Sydney Yanak and Jaycee Karelus had 11 kills each. Yanak added seven digs and Karelus had a .588 attack percentage.

Junior Caleigh Schroeder handed out 35 assists, four aces and 10 digs and senior Teagan Weber added 15 digs for the defense. Both Price and Schroeder were named to the All-Tournament team.

In the Barton match, Price led the way with 15 kills and 14 digs for her third double-double of the weekend. Schroeder had 42 assists and 18 digs as she has recorded a double-double in all eight matches this season.

Pasquantonio had 11 digs, Weber had 14 and Karelus recorded eight kills with a .438 attack percentage.

The Redhawks return home for the first home match of the season Friday at 6 p.m. against Lake Erie College in the Voller Athletic Center.
