ROCHESTER, NY – Senior Sydney Yanak had 16 kills and junior Caleigh Schroeder handed out 47 assists as the Roberts Wesleyan Women's Volleyball team outscored Lake Erie in four long sets to post a 3-1 victory Friday night in the home opener for the Redhawks in the Voller Athletic Center.

Roberts (7-2) win the opening set 25-23 but fell 28-26 in the second set as Lake Erie (2-7) evened the match. The Redhawks needed extra scoring in each of the final two sets to post consecutive 26-24 wins to take the final match score.

In the opening set, it was a kill by Yanak to give Roberts a 24-24 lead and an attack error on the following play gave the Redhawks the win and the early lead.

In the second set, Lake Erie rallied late to overcome a 21-17 deficit and scored the final two points for a 28-26 win to even the match.

The teams battled back-and-forth in the third set until Roberts jumped ahead 23-21 with four straight points late in the set. The Storm came back to knot the score at 23-23 but the Redhawks scored three of the final four points with a kill by junior Olivia Price to cap the victory and give Roberts a 2-1 edge in the match score.

It was the Redhawks that needed a comeback effort in the fourth set as Lake Erie took a 17-13 lead late in the set. Kills by senior Jaycee Karelus, two by Yanak and one by senior Celine Malosa brought the Redhawks back and the score was tied at 19-19.

Price tied the score at 23-23 with a kill and gave Roberts the lead at 25-24 with an ace before Yanak ended the match with her 16th kills of the match.
