ROCHESTER, NY – The Roberts Wesleyan Field Hockey team capped a busy Homecoming Saturday of athletic action but a strong defensive effort ended in a 3-0 loss to Converse University on the Redhawks Turf Field.
A second quarter goal by Converse (6-1) was the only score of the first half and the teams went into the halftime intermission with a 1-0 score.
Two minutes into the second half, the Valkyries doubled the lead with a shot after Roberts sophomore goalkeeper Avery Richardson had made a pair of saves.
Richardson had seven saves through three quarters for the Redhawks.
In the final period, Converse added another goal early in the quarter for the final score.
Richardson finished with 10 saves as Converse held a 20-3 edge in shots. Roberts had five penalty corners in the game.
The Redhawks are back in action Wednesday morning with a 10 a.m. game at home against Wingate University.
