ROCHESTER, NY – Senior Sydney Yanak had nine kills and 13 digs while fellow senior Camryn Karelus led the way with 11 kills as the Roberts Wesleyan Women's Volleyball team built an early 2-0 lead but Queens College came all the way back and scored a 3-2 win Sunday in East Coast Conference (ECC) play in the Voller Athletic Center.
Roberts (8-5 overall, 0-2 ECC) built an early lead winning the first two sets by scores of 25-21 and 25-18. Queens (10-5, 1-0 ECC) rallied for a 25-12 win in the third set and a close 25-22 win in the fourth to force the fifth set. The Knights put together a mid-set rally to win 15-7 to take the match.
Junior Caleigh Schroeder totaled 34 assists, 14 digs, four aces and four blocks for a double-double while Yanak and Karelus led the offense with their 20 combined kills.
Junior Teagan Weber led a balanced defensive effort with 21 digs. Yanak added 13 digs and junior Olivia Price added 14 and senior Sarina Pasquantonio chipped in 10.
The Redhawks continue ECC play next weekend on the road at St. Thomas Aquinas (Saturday) and Mercy (Sunday). Botj matches are scheduled for a 12 p.m. start.
