Dynamic Duo Lead Women’s Soccer to Another Win

ROCHESTER, NY – Juniors Kara Choate and Alyssa Hackett look like they have been playing on the same team for the past three years but the duo has only been together for a few games as Hackett transferred to Roberts from St. Peters. The chemistry between the two forwards was evident Sunday as each scored a goal and assisted on the other to lead the Roberts Wesleyan Women's Soccer team to a 2-0 win over Ohio Dominican at Roberts Stadium.

The Redhawks (2-0) have won a pair of 2-0 games to start the season.

Hackett scored her second goal of the season in the first half with a nice pass from Choate to get the scoring started and the teams went into the halftime intermission with Roberts holding the 1-0 lead.

In the second half with the Redhawks playing against a stiff wind, the scoring combination clicked again but this time it was Hackett setting up Choate to give Roberts a 2-0 lead.

"I think we play really well together and balance each other off," said Choate after the game. "We are really good friends outside of soccer so it makes it 10 times better when we are on the field."

Roberts held a commanding 14-5 edge in shots and each team had a pair of corner kicks.

Late in the second half, Ohio Dominican (0-2) had its best scoring chance after freshman goalie Mia Tyndell came off her line but a quick pass to her left found a Panther forward with a clear shot at the open net. Sophomore Nevaeh Bunch moved back behind Tyndell and made the defensive save to preserve the shutout for Roberts.

Tyndell made two saves for her first career win and shutout.

Roberts will host Glenville State at 5 p.m. Wednesday before playing on the road for the first time this season Saturday afternoon at Walsh University.
