COLONIA, NJ – A select group of athletes from Roberts Wesleyan traveled to Akron, OH for the Pole Vault Convention and Throws Festival over the weekend and a pair of vaulters used their standout performances to earn recognition from the East Coast Conference (ECC).
Graduate student Brynn King won the elite pole vault competition and was named the ECC co-Field Athlete of the Week while sophomore Sarah Ferguson finished in a tie for second place in the top collegiate group of vaulters and earned a spot on the ECC Weekly Honor Roll.
King student was one of six elite vaulters that competed in a special session on Friday night at the convention, and she won the competition with a height of 4.45m (14' 7 1/4").
Fergusson tied for second place overall in a field of 13 in the top college and cleared 3.83m (12' 6 3/54). She was the top Division II pole vaulter in the event, which was held Saturday at the University of Akron.
The entire Men's and Women's Track and Field squad will compete Friday at the Brockport Welcome Back Rust Buster Invitational.
