Men’s Volleyball Falls to Nationally Ranked NJIT

NEWARK, NJ – Sophomores Paul Fillion and Griffin Monrad combined for 19 kills to lead the offense for the Roberts Wesleyan University Men's Volleyball team but the Redhawks dropped a three-set match to the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) Friday afternoon to wrap up the two-match road trip to the New York City area.

NJIT (1-2), ranked among the top 25 NCAA Division I teams in the country, won for the first time in 2025 after falling twice to No. 9 ranked Grand Canyon University last weekend. The Highlanders were listed in the also receiving votes section of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) National preseason poll and fell by a few votes but remained on the list in the first national poll of the season this week.

The Highlanders won in straight sets 25-14, 25-16 and 25-21.

Monrad led the Redhawks (2-2) with 10 kills and Fillion added nine kills and four digs.

Freshman Landon Brouwer finished with 28 assists and junior Moises Jimenez led the defense with nine digs.

Roberts returns to action next weekend with a pair of matches Friday and Saturday at Farleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey.
