ROCHESTER, NY – Sophomore Paul Fillion finished with a pair of double-digit kills efforts to lead the Roberts Wesleyan University Men's Volleyball team to a pair of 3-0 sweeps over Geneva College and Houghton University Thursday night in the home opening matches of the season for the Redhawks in the Voller Athletic Center.
Roberts (4-4) downed Geneva 25-23, 25-16 and 25-20 and then topped Houghton 25-20, 25-20 and 25-13 for the victories.
Fillion led the Redhawks with 11 kills against Geneva and added 10 kills with a .909 attack percentage in the win over Houghton.
Against Geneva, freshman Landon Brouwer dished out 34 assists and had eight digs while fellow freshman Ryan DeJohn recorded nine kills with a .500 attack percentage and added nine digs.
In the Houghton match, sophomore Kaidan Krchniak had eight kills with a .462 attack percentage and seven digs while freshman Patrick Bodecker added seven kills with an .875 attack percentage and Brouwer finished with 26 assists and six aces.
Roberts will play at Buffalo State Tuesday night and at Daemen Wednesday before returning home to face Rockhurst University from Kansas City Feb. 7.
