LODI, NJ – Graduate student Malik Brooks led the Roberts Wesleyan University Men's Basketball team with 21 points Wednesday night but a hot-shooting Felician University team used a first half run to take a lead and finished with a 104-72 win to start the second semester schedule.
In the first game since December 21 in Florida, Roberts (5-9) fell behind in the first half and could not overcome the deficit as Felician (8-5) shot nearly 60 percent from the field to open up a 30-point lead in the second half.
The Redhawks trimmed an early lead to 34-31 with a pair of free throws by Brooks but the Golden Falcons finished the half on a 16-3 run to take a 50-33 lead into the halftime intermission.
Brooks opened the second half with a basket but Felician went on a 21-7 run to open up a 71-42 lead with 12 minutes left in the second half.
The Golden Flacons finished the game shooting 42-for-73 (.575) from the field including a 22-for-35 (.629) effort in the second half.
Brooks led three players into double-digit scoring as senior Jermaine Taggart II scored 18 and sophomore Nasir Hammonds added 15 points for the Redhawks. Hammonds and Brooks each had six rebounds to lead Roberts.
The Redhawks return home and will resume East Coast Conference (ECC) play next Wednesday against the College of Staten Island in the Voller Athletic Center.
