ST. LOUIS, MO – Junior goaltender Avery Richardson had another solid day in the cage to lead the defensive effort for the Roberts Wesleyan University Field Hockey team as the Redhawks wrapped up a two-game holiday weekend road trip to St. Louis. Roberts fell 3-0 to host Maryville University.
Richardson finished with nine saves including seven in the second half. The Redhawks also had a defensive save for sophomore Mary Catherine Maloney.
Maryville (7-3) scored a goal in the first quarter and then added a pair of goals off penalty corners in the third quarter. Richardson had shutout quarters in the second and fourth quarters for Roberts (5-6).
The Saints held a 23-2 advantage in shots and a 13-2 edge in shots on goal.
Roberts returns home from the Midwest and will face SUNY Oswego at home Thursday with a 4 p.m. game on the Redhawks Turf Field.
