Field Hockey Scores a School-Record Six Goals in Win

ELMIRA, NY – The record-breaking season for the Roberts Wesleyan University Field Hockey team continued Saturday as the Redhawks scored a school-record six goals in a game with a 6-1 road win over Elmira College.

Freshman Natalee Lawrence scored a pair of goals in the first half and sophomores Gabby Croniser, Ava Barker and Makena Tooley added goals before freshman Julia Lukasik added a penalty stroke near the end of the game for the record-breaking goal.

Lawrence scored her sixth goal of the season with an assist from sophomore Peyton Ayer seven minutes into the game to give Roberts (7-6) an early lead.

Elmira (3-12) answered six minutes later to tie the game at 1-1 but it was all Roberts after that point in the game as Croniser scored second goal of the season late in the first quarter to regain the lead for the Redhawks.

Lawrence scored her second goal of the game and team-leading seventh goal of the season late in the second quarter with an assist from sophomore Avery Trzepacz.

Barker extended the lead to 4-1 with her first career goal with 16 seconds remaining in the first half.

Late in the game, Roberts was awarded a pair of penalty strokes and Tooley scored on the first at the 53:47 mark while Lukasik scored her second goal of the season with her second penalty-stroke goal with 1:18 left to play.

Roberts had a 25-9 edge in shots and an 11-3 advantage in shots on goal. The Redhawks also had a lead of 13-5 on penalty corners.

The Redhawks will play their final home game of the season Wednesday against Mansfield University with a 3 p.m. game on the turf field.
