ROCHESTER, NY – In the final home game of the most successful season in the short history of the Roberts Wesleyan University Field Hockey program ended in a loss to Mansfield University Wednesday afternoon on Redhawks Turf Field.
Mansfield (6-11) snapped a five-game losing streak with a 6-0 road victory over Roberts (7-7).
The Mountaineers scored a goal in each of the first two quarters to take a 2-0 lead into the halftime intermission.
Mansfield exploded for three goals in the third quarter including the second two goals in the period in a span of less than two minutes to take a commanding 5-0 lead.
A final goal midway through the fourth quarter made the final score 6-0.
Mansfield, who was ranked in the top-10 for a majority of the season, held a 22-2 shots advantage and had a 10-1 edge in penalty corners.
The Redhawks will wrap up the 2025 season, its final season as an independent team, Saturday at D'Youville University. The game is a non-conference affair this season but the two teams will faceoff in East Coast Conference (ECC) play beginning in 2026.
