SPARKILL, NY – Junior Camryn Karelus recorded a team-best 18 kills as the Roberts Wesleyan University Women's Volleyball team snapped a six-game losing streak with a 3-1 East Coast Conference (ECC) road victory over St. Thomas Aquinas College.
Roberts won the opening set 25-16 before the teams traded 26-24 sets and the Redhawks closed out the match with a 25-19 win in the fourth set.
Karelus recorded kills on three of the final four points for the Roberts (3-21 overall, 3-5 ECC) as she led the team down the stretch for the match victory.
The junior finished with 18 kills – her highest total since the second match of the season against Goldey-Beacom – and only had three attack errors for a .333 attack percentage. Freshmen Ryan Hull and Tiana Copp added eight kills each for the offense.
Freshman Sierra George had a strong match with 36 assists, five aces and 11 digs. Classmate Alexis Kessler led the defense with 20 digs and senior Morgan Burnett chipped in 13 digs to match her season high.
The Redhawks return home to face a pair of ECC opponents next weekend with matches against Queens College Saturday and Molloy University Sunday in the Voller Athletic Center.
