Women’s Volleyball Competes Season Sweep of Queens

ROCHESTER, NY – A strong offensive performance for the Roberts Wesleyan University Women's Volleyball team led to a 3-1 victory Saturday over Queens College in an East Coast Conference (ECC) match as the Redhawks solidified their fourth-place position in the ECC standings.

The victory for Roberts (4-21 overall, 4-5 ECC) gave the Redhawks a season sweep of the two matches against the Knights (9-17, 2-8 ECC).

Roberts won the first set 25-19 but dropped a 26-24 set in the second as Queens evened the score. The Redhawks answered with a 25-21 win in the third set and then closed out the match with another 25-19 win.

Junior Camryn Karelus led the offense with 20 kills and a .261 attack percentage. Freshman Tiara Copp added 15 kills and a .233 percentage while freshman Ryan Hull also hit double digits with 11 kills and an impressive .304 percentage.

Freshman Alexis Kessler led the defense with 23 digs and senior Morgan Verbridge added 12 digs and three blocks. Copp chipped in 10 digs.

Freshman Sierra George handed out 43 assists and was the co-leader on the team with senior Morgan Burnett with four aces each.

Roberts returns to action Sunday with a 12 p.m. ECC match at home against Molloy.
