HOPKINGTON, N.H. – Senior
Rachel Horner-Richardson finished second for the second straight year as the Roberts Wesleyan University women's cross country team finished second at the NCAA Division II East Regional Championships on Saturday morning.
Horner-Richardson set a personal record by finishing the 6K course at Hopkington Fairgrounds in 21:38.46, nearly 19 seconds faster than her previous PR of 21:57.3. The Redhawks finished with 53 points, nine behind first-place Southern Connecticut State, to qualify for nationals for the 11
th straight season.
Sophomore
Paige Reeser finished fourth in a personal-best time of 22:05.7. Her previous PR was 22:28.7.
Senior
Lydia Roselund placed 11
th in 22:42.05 and sophomore
Evelyn Schmit was 17
th in 23:01.85 for Roberts. Freshmen
Michaela Goettel (23:20.38) and
Emma Lipa (23:24.42) were 23
rd and 25
th, respectively for Roberts. Senior
Gianna Tribotte was 27
th in 23:42.06.
Horner-Richardson, Reeser, Roselund, Schmit, Goettel and Lipa earned All-Region recognition from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
The NCAA Division II Championships are scheduled for Nov. 22 in Kenosha, Wisc.
