ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan University women's soccer team is headed to the East Coast Conference championship match for the first time since 2015.
Senior
Cami Brescia scored off a deflected free kick in the third minute of overtime as the Redhawks defeated host Molloy 2-1 in the ECC semifinals on Sunday afternoon. The goal was Brescia's second of the season and snapped an 11-match winless streak for Roberts against the Lions.
"The team showed a lot of courage and character today to get the win," Roberts coach
Bobby McColl said. "It's never easy to win a playoff game on the road and we had to weather the storm in the second half. This team never gives up and deserves to be where they are."
Third-seeded Roberts (10-3-4), which defeated Molloy for the first time since Sept. 30, 2016, will play at top-seeded Mercy in the title game on Sunday, Nov. 16 at 1 p.m.

Jenna Northup scored her seventh goal of the season off assists from Brescia and
Nevaeh Bunch. Northup scored the winning goal in Roberts' quarterfinal win over D'Youville on Thursday.
Molloy tied the game in the 55
th minute on a goal by Jana Strait. Molloy appeared to take the lead on a free kick about five minutes later but the play was ruled offsides.
Sophomore
Mia Tyndell made four saves for Roberts, which has won five straight and will take a nine-match unbeaten streak into the ECC final.
