FLUSHING, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan University men's basketball team cut a 19-point second-half deficit to one with 1:39 to play, but was unable to complete the comeback and dropped a 92-86 decision to Queens College on Sunday afternoon.
Roberts (1-7, 0-2 ECC) trailed 61-42 with 12:51 to play, but went on a 43-25 run to make the score 86-85 on a floater by
Khalik Gardner with 1:39 left.
Freshman
Jordan Brown scored a career-high 24 points and Gardner added 18 points and 13 rebounds for Roberts.
Queens native
Jaden Battle scored all 14 of his points in the second half for Roberts, which outscored the Knights 51-48 in the second half.
The Redhawks trailed by one, 36-35, on a driving layup by Gardner with 1:44 to play in the half but the Knights went on an 8-0 run to lead 44-35 at the break. Brown and Gardner both scored eight points in the first half.
Roberts will close out first semester with a non-conference game against Holy Family University at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the Voller Athletic Center.
