ROCHESTER, NY – Freshman Jordan Brown scored 19 points and sophomore Greyson Trubia added a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Roberts Wesleyan University Men's Basketball team but a second half rally by the Redhawks was slowed by a hot-shooting Holy Family University squad and the Tigers posted an 84-65 win Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference battle at the Voller Athletic Center.
Roberts (1-8 overall) was hot early and took a 10-3 lead in the opening minutes of the contest as Brown and junior Keonjay Carter each connected on early 3-pointers.
Brown added another 3-pointer late in the half but Holy Family took a 43-35 lead into the halftime intermission.
The Tigers rallied early in the second half to extend the lead to 15 points at 53-38 with 13 minutes to play.
Brown connected on a four-point play and freshman Jaden Battle added a three-point play in a run that trimmed the lead all the way down to six points at 56-50 with 9:45 remaining but Holy Family answered with an 11-0 run to rebuild the double-digit-lead and cruised to the victory.
Brown lead the team with his 19 points and Trubia was the only other Redhawk to score in double figures with his 10 points. The sophomore added the team-leading 10 rebounds and also had three blocked shots.
Roberts is off for the holiday break and will return to action January 5 at home against Redeemer University.
