FAIRFAX, VA – Sophomore Kaidan Krchniak recorded a team-high seven kills and freshman Landon Brouwer handed out 16 assists for the Roberts Wesleyan University Men's Volleyball team but NCAA Division I George Mason University delivered a 3-0 victory Tuesday night at Eagle Bank Arena.
George Mason (8-5) won by set scores of 25-20, 25-17 and 25-17.
After taking early leads in each of the first two sets, the Patriots fell behind in the third set as the Redhawks took a 6-4 lead after scoring four straight points early in the set.
A kill by Krchniak and an attack error by George Mason gave Roberts a 9-6 edge but the Patriots rallied to knot the score at 9-9 and pulled away with a scoring run of six of seven straight points to open up a 16-12 lead.
Another kill by Krchniak stopped the run but George Mason answered with another seven out of eight points stretch to take a 23-14 lead late in the set.
