ROCHESTER, NY – Freshman Landon Brouwer had a season-high 44 assists and sophomore Paul Fillion recorded a season-best 17 kills for the Roberts Wesleyan University Men's Volleyball team but it was not enough as D'Youville University rallied from a 2-0 deficit to win 3-2 Monday night in a non-conference match at the Voller Athletic Center.
Roberts (6-9 overall) took a 2-0 lead wining the first two sets by scores of 25-23 and 25-22. The Saints (3-5) rallied for a 25-20 win in the third set after scoring the last four points of the set and tied the match score with a 25-19 win in the fourth set to force the tie-breaker set.
In the fifth set, D'Youville took an early lead and had an 8-5 advantage as the team switched sides. A service error closed the gap to 11-8 but the Saints scored three straight points to take a 14-8 lead before closing out the set and the match.
Fillion led the offense with 17 kills and a .343 attack percentage while fellow sophomore Griffin Monrad added 14 kills. Brouwer had 44 assists. Junior Moises Jimenez led the defense with seven digs and sophomore Kaidan Krchniak led the team with three aces.
The Redhawks will be back in action Thursday as Daemen University comes to the Voller Athletic Center for a 7 p.m. non-conference match.
