Men’s Volleyball Stumbles in 3-1 Loss to Daemen

ROCHESTER, NY – Sophomore Griffin Monrad recorded a double-double with 13 kills and 10 digs for the Roberts Wesleyan University Men's Volleyball team but an early lead and a strong finish gave visiting Daemen University a 3-1 victory Thursday night in a non-conference match at the Voller Athletic Center.

The Wildcats (8-3) won the opening set 25-19 but Roberts (6-10) battled back for a 25-23 win in the second set to even the match. Daemen rallied late to win the third set 25-23 and then took an early lead and finished the match with a 25-11 win in the fourth set.

Monrad led the offense with his 13 kills and fellow sophomore Paul Fillion added 11 kills and a pair of aces for Roberts. Freshman Landon Brouwer handed out 30 assists and registered nine digs.

The Redhawks will look to bounce back with a pair of matches against East Coast Conference (ECC) foe Dominican University starting at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Voller Athletic Center.
