ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Malik Brooks, a graduate student on the Roberts Wesleyan University men's basketball team, has been named to the East Coast Conference (ECC) First Team for the second consecutive season.
Brooks, a 6-foot, 2-inch guard, ranked second in the ECC in scoring (21.6 points per game) and field-goal percentage (.533) and seventh in free-throw percentage (.745).
The Lockport, N.Y. native and Business Administration major also averaged 5.2 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.4 steals. He scored a career-high 36 points at Queens on Dec. 13 and recorded his 1,000
th point as a Redhawk at Mercy on Dec. 6.
Brooks was named National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Division I Player of the Week on Jan. 20 and was recognized by the ECC as Player of the Week on Feb. 10 and Co-Player of the Week on Dec. 9 and Jan. 20.
Brooks scored 15 points and added 9 rebounds and 9 assists in a season-ending loss to the College of Staten Island on Wednesday night. He finished his Roberts career with 1,324 points as a Redhawk.
