NORTH ANDOVER, MA – Sophomore Paul Fillion had a team-leading seven kills for the Roberts Wesleyan University Men's Volleyball team Sunday as the Redhawks dropped a 3-0 decision to Division I Merrimack in a non-conference game in Massachusetts.
Merrimack (8-4) took an early 2-0 lead with set wins of 25-16 and 25-11. Roberts (7-13) rallied to take a lead in the third set with a 15-12 advantage. The Warriors rallied to score four of the next five points to knot the score at 16-16 and eventually took a 21-19 lead.
A pair of Merrimack attack errors allowed the Redhawks to tie the score at 21-21 but the Warriors used two kills and an ace to spark a 4-0 rally to end the set and the match, 25-21.
Fillion led the Redhawks with seven kills and added five digs. Freshman Landon Brouwer had 13 assists, two aces and seven digs. Junior Moises Jimenez led the defense with eight digs.
Roberts will host Thomas More University at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Voller Athletic Center.
