Men’s Volleyball Clinches Second Place with 3-0 Win

ROCHESTER, NY – Senior Eli Harden handed out a match-high 26 assists and led the Roberts Wesleyan University Men's Volleyball team to a 3-0 victory over American International College Saturday in an East Coast Conference (ECC) match and senior day for the Redhawks.

Prior to the match, Harden and fellow senior Jonah Grbic were recognized for their dedication to the program that has only been a varsity sport for the past two years.

Roberts (10-17 overall, 3-3 ECC) won easily with set scores of 25-17, 25-20 and 25-13 and clinched a tie for second place in the final ECC standings with Dominican University. The two teams will matchup in the semifinal round of the ECC Tournament that begins Friday at St. Thomas Aquinas College.

AIC (4-19, 0-6) will be the fourth seed in the tournament and face STAC in the semifinal round. The winners will meet Saturday for the ECC Tournament championship.

On Saturday, Harden handed out the 26 assists and sophomore Griffin Monrad led the offense with 12 kills and a .647 attack percentage and added four blocks and three aces to his stats line. Junior Moises Jimenez led the defense with 10 digs for his 11th double-digit dig effort of the season. His 229 total digs this season eclipses his school-record 224 season digs from last year.

Monrad cleared the 200-kill mark for the season for the second consecutive season. He finished with 214 last season.

Roberts will play Dominican at 12 p.m. Friday in the ECC Tournament.
