ROCHESTER, NY – For the first time in 2025, the Roberts Wesleyan University Field Hockey team were defeated as visiting Indiana University of Pennsylvania won a 3-0 decision Sunday afternoon on the Redhawks Turf Field on campus.
After a scoreless first quarter, the Crimson Hawks (3-0) scored 10 minutes into the second period to take the lead on a shot off a rebound after goalie Avery Richardson had made the initial save.
The score remained 1-0 after the first half of play.
Indiana University added a pair of goals in the third quarter to extend the lead and the Roberts (3-1) defense was solid the rest of the way to keep the score at 3-0.
IUP held a 23-0 shots advantage and a 15-0 shots on goal edge and Richardson finished with 12 saves in the Roberts goal.
The Crimson Hawks also held a 15-0 edge in penalty corners.
The Redhawks play on the road for the first time in 2025 next Friday with a contest at Bloomsburg University and a 2 p.m. start time.
