Second Half Surge Downs Women’s Soccer at Gannon

ERIE, PA – After a close 1-0 deficit in the first half of play, Gannon University rallied for four second-half goals to take a 5-0 victory from the Roberts Wesleyan University Women's Soccer team Wednesday night in Pennsylvania.

Gannon (3-0) and ranked at the top of the Atlantic Region ranking released Wednesday, opened the scoring in the 26th minute and the defense for Roberts (2-1-1) and ranked no. 9 in the East Region rankings held strong for the remainder of the period to trail by just a goal at the halftime break.

In the second half, the Golden Knights, ranked No. 9 in the nation, rallied for four goals with the first coming in the first five minutes of the half. Gannon added a pair of goals midway through the period in a span of nine minutes before scoring the final goal in the final minute of play.

Gannon held a 19-3 edge in shots and a 13-3 advantage in shots on goal.

Sophomore Mia Tyndell finished with seven saves for the Redhawks.

Roberts returns to action Saturday in the East Coast Conference (ECC) opener at the College of Staten Island.
