Women’s Soccer Falls on the Road in a Non-Conference Battle

AMHERST, NY – An early penalty shot and a late goal led to a 2-0 loss for the Roberts Wesleyan University Women's Soccer team Wednesday night at Daemen University. The matchup was the first of two games against the Wildcats and did not count as an East Coast Conference (ECC) game.

The Redhawks (3-2-1) surrendered a goal on a penalty kick in the opening minutes of the contest and the score remained 1-0 for nearly the rest of the game. The Wildcats (4-2-0) scored an insurance goal just over 17 minutes remaining in the second half.

Sophomore goalkeeper Mia Tyndell made a season-high nine saves for Roberts including eight in the second half.

The Redhawks held an overall 18-16 edge in shots and a 13-11 lead in shots on goal.

Roberts will return to action Saturday in the first game of a Homecoming Soccer Doubleheader against D'Youville University at 1 p.m. in Roberts Stadium. The team will honor the seniors on the team prior to the start of the ECC contest.
