COLONIA, NJ – Junior Jadyn Mullen set two school records and freshman Solki Martin-Lacayo had a first-place finish for the Roberts Wesleyan University Women's Track and Field team last weekend and both were honored by the East Coast Conference (ECC) with weekly awards.
Mullen, who was named the ECC Field Athlete of the Week, started the second semester schedule with a bang Saturday at the Brockport Rust Buster meet. The multi athlete won four events and set a pair of school records. She won the 60-meter hurdles in 9.45 seconds and had a winning time in the 500-meter race with a time of 1:19.59. The time ranks second all-time on the Roberts top-five list. In the jumps, Mullen broke a school record that was set back in 2004 with a leap of 5.58 meters (18' 3 ¾") and later broke a record she shared with pole vault coach Jenn Suhr as she cleared the 1.74-meter (5' 8 ½") bar to win her fourth event of the day. She is currently ranked No. 1 in the East region in the high jump and is No. 3 in the East in the long jump.
Martin-Lacayo continues to shine in her first season as she recorded the top time in the 800-meter race at the semester's first event at the Brockport Rust Buster meet. She closed with a strong kick as she outraced a pack of seven runners to win with a time of 2:24.80. She was first in a field of 26 runners. Her time currently ranks fifth in the ECC.
The Roberts Track and Field teams will compete Friday at the RIT Friday Night meet at Gordon Field House at RIT.
