Mid-Set Lead Slips Away as Volleyball Falls on the Road

LORETTO, PA – Freshman Jayce Moore had a career-high 17 kills while fellow freshman Jordan Hoover and sophomore Ryan DeJohn combined for 30 additional kills for the Roberts Wesleyan University Men's Volleyball team but a 2-1 lead in the set slipped away as St. Francis University rallied to take a 3-2 five-set victory Friday night in Pennsylvania.

St. Francis (3-3) took the opening set 25-22 but Roberts (4-4) rallied to with the next two sets by the same 25-23 score to pull ahead in the match. The Red Flash tied the set with a 25-20 win in the fourth set and pulled away for a 15-11 win in the fifth set for the win in the first of two matchups between the two teams.

DeJohn led the Redhawks with 18 kills while Hoover added 12 kills and a .478 attack percentage. Sophomore Landon Brouwer handed out 44 assists and 11 digs. Senior Moises Jimenez led the defense with 13 digs.

The teams meet again at 1 p.m. Saturday to wrap up the two-match series.
