Balanced Scoring and Strong Defense Leads Men’s Basketball

ROCHESTER, NY – Junior Collin Woods came off the bench to lead the Roberts Wesleyan University Men's Basketball team with 15 points as three players reached double figures to lead the Redhawks past Molloy University 85-74 Friday in an East Coast Conference (ECC) game at the Voller Athletic Center.

Woods was 5-for-8 from the field and 3-for-4 from 3-point range to lead the offense while freshman Hadi Alshami made an impact for the Redhawks and led a strong defensive effort with seven rebounds (six defensive) and four blocked shots.

Freshman Jordan Brown added 14 points and a team-leading four steals while junior Trey Kleitz nailed three 3-pointers and finished with 13 points for Roberts. Junior Mohamed Soumahoro had a solid game with nine points and a team-high nine rebounds.

The Redhawks held a 43-38 lead at the halftime break and led by as many as 19 points in the second half but a late rally was stopped as Roberts was a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line in the final three minutes of the contest.

The Redhawks will face ECC foe Queens College Sunday at a 4 p.m. game at the Voller Athletic Center. The win Friday moved Roberts into a tie for sixth place in the ECC standings with Queens.
